Ampaire Inc.

Ampaire was founded in Los Angeles, California, in 2016 and is one of the world’s leading innovators in the electric aviation industry. Since its inception, Ampaire has received over 10 internationally recognized technology awards. Some of its most recent honors include the 2021 Edison Gold Award for Aerospace Flight Technology, the 2020 Global Climate Innovation Award for Future Transportation, and the 2019 Global Cleantech Award, where it stood out among 14,000 outstanding candidate companies to win the Gold Award. Ampaire aims to build a global business model and has already established subsidiaries in Europe and Asia.
In the face of the global climate crisis, electric power provides a cleaner and more affordable future for air transportation. Ampaire is currently developing and flying hybrid-electric aircraft, leading the industry toward an all-electric future. Electric aviation is still in its early stages, and like the automotive industry, it requires ingenuity and experimentation to thrive. Ampaire is upgrading existing aircraft, including the Cessna Grand Caravan, into hybrid-electric versions— the fastest and most effective way to make commercial electric flight a reality using existing technology. Building on this foundation, Ampaire will offer upgraded, newly designed hybrid-electric and all-electric aircraft, expanding from small planes to larger regional aircraft. In 2019, Ampaire successfully test-flew its first hybrid-electric test platform, the Electric EEL, which combines electric and conventional propulsion systems. Ampaire collaborates with major Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to replace traditional engines with zero-emission or low-emission technologies. By integrating innovative technology with proven airframe designs, Ampaire minimizes risks and maximizes benefits for its customers.
Ampaire is leveraging the technology and expertise gained from the Electric EEL to develop its first commercial product—the Eco Caravan, a hybrid-electric nine-seat regional aircraft. When using Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), the Eco Caravan can reduce emissions by up to 70%, and in some cases, achieve 100% carbon reduction, making it one of the cleanest and most environmentally friendly aircraft in the world. Since the first flight of the Electric EEL technology demonstrator in 2019, Ampaire has set multiple world-first industry records. Ampaire holds multiple patents in hybrid propulsion systems and has the capability to electrify various aircraft models. In 2019, Ampaire successfully completed the world’s first flight of a six-seat hybrid-electric aircraft, a modified Cessna 337 with a gas-electric hybrid system. This aircraft achieved 100% fault-free flight and remains the largest hybrid-electric aircraft to have flown to date. As a leading global innovator in electric aviation, Ampaire has established an exclusive partnership with Textron Aviation, the world’s largest general aviation manufacturer. Together, they are developing a hybrid-electric version of the nine-seat Cessna 208, one of the most popular general aviation aircraft. The hybrid-electric Cessna 208 made its maiden flight in late 2022 and is expected to complete certification by 2024-2025, with plans to enter the market soon after.
