The "World Energy Investment 2024" report written by IEA comprehensively updates the investment situation in 2023 and evaluates the situation in 2024.

This report provides a global benchmark for tracking capital flows in the energy sector, analyzing how investors assess risks and opportunities in fuel and electricity supply, key minerals, efficiency, research and development, and energy finance.

The report highlights several key aspects of the current investment landscape, including ongoing cost and interest rate pressures, new industrial strategies adopted by major economies to promote clean energy manufacturing, and policies supporting clean energy spending, particularly from the increasingly important perspectives of energy security and affordability.

The 2024 report expands the analysis of investment and financing sources in the energy sector, including new insights into the role of development finance institutions in energy investment in emerging and developing economies. The report will also analyze the comparison between clean energy investment trends and fossil fuel investment, as well as the geographical distribution of these investments.

The report also added a regional section covering 10 major economies and regions, while assessing additional efforts needed to achieve COP28 goals, including reducing dependence on fossil fuels, tripling renewable energy capacity, and doubling the rate of energy efficiency improvement by 2030.
